Manchester International Jiu Jitsu Championship

United Kingdom Jiu Jitsu Federation proudly presents the much-anticipated launch of the British Jiu Jitsu League and the inception of the British National Jiu Jitsu ranking system. The league will travel throughout the United Kingdom, Great Britain and its major cities. It will highlight and celebrate the diversity of the cultures and seek to identify new champions to represent their nations. Starting with The Manchester International Jiu Jitsu Championship on Saturday 5th of October 2019. Each of the nations will be united as all players compete individually but side by side at the British Jiu Jitsu League. From there we will look to unite the nations of the UK under one formidable “Team GB”, comprising the best players who have achieved the highest rankings from their tour results. This team will go on to represent the UK and Great Britain in international events and games across the globe.

📕 Rules: The event will be contested under standard Jiu Jitsu international rules. The event is UKJJF ranked for Gi and No Gi.

🗓 Schedule: Event Starts at 🕘 10:00am - 🕖 19.00pm on Saturday 5th of October 2019.

⚖️ Weigh-in Schedule and Information:

Please notice that players will only have to weigh in once if he or she is doing more than one categories. 5th of October from 🕘 10.00am and closes 45min before the first bout. ALL WEIGH INS ARE DONE WITH OUT THE KIMONO, SHORTS AND T-SHIRTS.

⚖️ How We Merge Groups for Kids 

We will merge/combine groups if necessary. We will do this according to described standard.

• We will combine weight classes within the same age and belt (we will try to avoid to big weight difference)

• We will combine weight classes within the same age but combine belts

• We will move to another weight class but with the same belt

• We will move to another weight class and/or belt and age class

• If no option above is possible we will cancel the weight class and give a refund

⚖️ How we Merge Groups Juveniles & Masters

We require at least two fighters in one group for the weightclass to happen. We will merge/combine groups if necessary. We will do this according to described standard.

• We will combine two weight classes within the same age (we will try to avoid to big weight difference)

• We will combine two weight classes with the age group below (Master 3>2>1>Adult)

• If no option above is possible we will cancel the weight class and give a refund

It is always your responsibility to check the brackets when they are published and cancel if you feel you have been moved to a new class that you can't accept. 

🥋 Uniform: 

GI's must be of uniform color. The following colours are permissible: white, royal blue or black. GI's with tops and pants of different colours are not permitted; nor are GI's with a collar that is a different color than the rest of the top. Painted GI's are forbidden, unless the paint is designed in the form of an academy or sponsor logo and only on regions of the GI's where patches are permitted. Click here for more information.

Sportsmanship: It is the obligation of coaches, players, administrators, volunteers, and other representatives to practice the highest principles of sportsmanship and to observe the ethics of competition. Good sportsmanship is defined as qualities of behavior, which are characterized by courtesy and genuine concern for others. The display of good sportsmanship is a statement of the individual's understanding and commitment to fair play, ethical behavior and integrity.

The following ethical guidelines should be observed by all coaches:

The coach shall never place the value of winning above the value of instilling the highest desirable ideals of character. The coach must always consider the personal safety of the athlete.

The coach shall be thoroughly acquainted with the rules and regulations of competition and shall be responsible for the interpretation to team members.

Event officials shall have the respect and support of the coach. The coach shall not indulge in conduct which will intice the players or spectators against the officials. Public criticism of the officials or players is unethical. The coach should respect his opponents, display gracious behavior during competition and require his players to conduct themselves in similar fashion. Before and after the contest, rival coaches should exchange friendly greetings to set the correct tone for the event.

Coaches shall actively use their influence to enhance sportsmanship by spectators

🇬🇧 British National Jiu Jitsu Ranking 🥇🥈🥉

As players compete in UKJJF sanctioned events within their age, gender, weight and belt categories. They will accumulate ranking points. The players that accumulate the most points in their categories will earn the chance to represent their nation and possibly the United Kingdom as a member of Team GB in major national and international events such as the World Games, World Pro, Grand Slam, IBJJF events.
